EXPEDITION DIARY

Main team - DIARY UPDATE FOR:

DAY 62 - SUNDAY 23 MAY 2004

We awoke to a patchy sky after night of snow to have our final breakfast with General Sam and Lady Anne. We waved them goodbye after breakfast having enjoyed their company for the last few days; it has been good to see our Patron make the effort to walk all the way out here to see us. Up at Camp 2 the boys experienced snow all night and Colin and the Sherpas decided to move back down to Intermediate Camp to asses the snow conditions on the fixed ropes lower down. The weather again deteriorated during the day and during the afternoon it was decided that Andy and Dick should also descend to Intermediate to get better quality rest at lower altitude during this spell of bad weather.

With the confirmation of further bad weather tomorrow, Val, Ben and Colin have decided to move back down to Base Camp along with the Sherpas.

Time is now very much against us and some hard decisions will now need to be made as to our final plans.
