Colin, Dick and Andy woke to clear weather this morning at Camp
2 and headed to the ropes. They dug the ropes out and with the
3 Sherpas started heading up the ropes. They did find, however,
that the slope was loaded with snow from yesterday's fall and
was extremely avalanche prone. The team and the Sherpas agreed
that the objective hazard was too great for them to proceed any
further and so once again, disappointedly, they returned to Camp
2. Colin has stated that the slope will need at least a full day
of sunshine to consolidate the snow and we are hoping for this
tomorrow.
Ben and Val remain at Camp Intermediate, with one book to share
between them, but they do intend to move to Camp 2 tomorrow if
the conditions are suitable.
The rest of us remain poised at Base Camp ready to be called forward
to activate the summit plan. Everything now depends on the weather.
Chris and Stew spent the morning manifesting barrels in preparation
for our impending trek out and Stew demonstrated his technical
skills by fixing the comms kit.
