EXPEDITION DIARY

Main team - DIARY UPDATE FOR:

DAY 29 - TUESDAY 20 APRIL 2004

Today has been the most amazing weather of the expedition, and excellent progress was made on the route with the team popping out onto the crest of the ridge to view the open panorama and the snow arete leading to Peak 3. The days climbing involved crossing a small ice-fall in mixed terrain and then opening out onto the broad snowfield that led to the ridge at around 6100m. Colin, Chris, Dave T and Uisdean were all actively involved in the climbing today.

Meanwhile at basecamp the good weather was utilised for some team admin, but more importantly for the first open air Scrabble competition for those who were resting in camp. Sadly we learned that the HADT were unable to reach their summit, this is obviosly very disappointing but not disastrous as they are sure to have learned many valuable lessons.

Todat thoughts are also with those at home, whilst Dave B is a (long) way from celebrating the same birthday as his sister in law Jane, Stu Boyce only dreams of when he was the same age as his daughter Kirsty, 20 today. Happy Birthday Trudie aswell.
