EXPEDITION DIARY

Main team - DIARY UPDATE FOR:

DAY 26 - SATURDAY 17 APRIL 2004

Our team at Camp 1 made excellent progress today. After fixing over the snow saddle and up the initial broken ground yesterday, today they made significant upwards movement on the rock buttress which bars our access to the summit of Peak 3. Peak 3 (6500 metres) is proving to be a significant obstacle to our access to the South East Col, where we will establish Camp 2. The rest of us did a load carry again today from Base Camp to Camp 1.

Today, Dave B and Ian Venables returned to Base Camp and tomorrow Ben, Dick and Sherpas Pema and Nima will return to Base Camp. Replacing the guys at Camp 1 tomorrow will be Uisdean, Chris Berryman, Dave Tait and Sam Marshall; they will stay up there for 4 days.
