A lie in for the team members this morning with a leisurely breakfast
in the snow at 0930. The skies were clear and Makalu looked close
enough to touch. Before lunch members helped haul some remaining
loads up the West Col. Meanwhile three of our Sherpa staff went
up to C2 and beyond to start fixing some rope through the section
above to speed access onto the SE Ridge proper. Although the NW
winds abated somewhat today (as forecast) we returned to the typical
pattern of afternoon snow so spent most of our time in the requisitioned
mess tent - after further camp improvements. Picture of the new

Turning to more serious business the Team Leader announced the
5-man team that would join forces with our three Sherpas; Pasang
Temba, Pasang Gyaljee and Dawa Gyalje. The British members of
the summit party will consist of:

Jude Shenton
Dave Goldsmith (1st Reserve)
Sean Yates (2nd Reserve)
The team will push up the mountain tomorrow (supported by the
remaining members) to join the three Sherpas in C2. Anticipate
launch of summit attempt 0200 (local time) on Monday 19th Apr.
